Automated Monitoring of Balances using Defender Sentinels

As we know, Ethereum accounts need ETH to pay for sending transactions. However, this is not the only system where we need funds for operating: many decentralized systems on Ethereum depend on protocol-specific ERC20s to operate. This creates a need to monitor the balances of our contracts on different assets, and alert or react if they run dangerously low.

PoolTogether is a decentralized protocol where prize games are pools of funds whose accrued interest is distributed as prizes, and is a long-standing Defender user. In this webinar, we’ll learn from their engineers how they use Sentinels for monitoring token balances on their system.

In this webinar, we will cover:

  • How PoolTogether uses OpenZeppelin Defender, by building a Sentinel for detecting low funds on an ERC20
  • Setting up a Defender Sentinel for monitoring a contract
  • Using an Autotask for defining custom conditions for matching transactions
  • Alerting via multiple channels and throttling alerts

  • Santiago Palladino, Lead Developer at OpenZeppelin (Host)
  • Aodhgan Gleeson, Senior Smart Contract Engineer, PoolTogether
